Virtual Reality studio GIB Games was among a small group of game development studios awarded a grant aimed at metaverse development being offered by the parent company of facebook, Meta.

As recipients of the grant, GIB Games participated in a program over several months to develop new and unique experiences on Meta’s flagship VR social platform, Horizon Worlds. Their resulting project, called Zone Wars, is a king-of-the-mountain-style multiplayer game that pits players against each other, capturing areas of the map and hindering each other with tools like bombs and moving platforms.

GIB Games, which recently released a VR murder mystery game called Cold Start: The Callisto, is a fully-remote company focused on VR gaming, accessibility, and education. “The VR space has the potential to make incredible changes for accessibility,” said GIB Games’ President & CEO, Sam Swicegood, “Platforms like Horizon Worlds can bring people together and let them experience things together in unimaginable ways. We’re really on the threshold of a whole new kind of worldwide community.”
